Stroke modes

Set the stroke mode in the Tool tab’s Stroke section.

Mode How it works Use it for
Freehand The brush follows the pointer while the button is held. Most sculpting
Drag Press on the surface and drag: one dab, sized by how far you drag and turned towards the drag. Placing one stamp or alpha exactly: a rivet, a scale, a scar
Curve Draw a path, then the whole path is sculpted as one stroke. Long even creases, seams, wrinkles and grooves
  • Curve strokes are applied in one go, so creases come out even along their length, with no beading where a freehand stroke would slow down.
  • Combine Drag with the surface alphas to place pores, rivets and stitches one at a time.
  • Lazy mouse (in the same section) steadies Freehand strokes.
