Brush settings
The Tool tab follows the active brush. Each brush remembers its own size and strength between sessions.
Size and strength
Section titled “Size and strength”| Change | Keys | Also |
|---|---|---|
| Smaller / bigger | [ / ] | Ctrl + mouse wheel, or the size scrubber in the context bar |
| Weaker / stronger | - / = | The strength scrubber |
Falloff
Section titled “Falloff”The Falloff section sets how a brush fades from its middle to its edge, as a curve with five points. A flat-topped curve gives a hard-edged brush; a pointed curve gives a soft one. Each brush has its own curve.
Pressure
Section titled “Pressure”With a pen, pressure sets strength, and size as well when Pressure controls size is on (P). The pressure curve in the Pen section maps how hard you press to how much the brush does. It can be shared by every brush or set per brush.
Stroke
Section titled “Stroke”- Spacing: how far apart the dabs of a stroke are. Close spacing gives smooth strokes; wide spacing gives a dotted row, useful with stamps.
- Lazy mouse: the brush trails the pointer on a string, for steady lines and clean creases.
- Stroke mode: Freehand, Drag or Curve. See Stroke modes.
A stamp (or surface alpha) shapes each dab with a pattern. See Stamps and surface alphas.
